Sunday Series
The Sunday Series Skills Labs are back for Fall! From October through December, these one-day, specialized classes are designed to give clients a place to experiment and stretch their skills. Each week, we offer one highly specialized lab designed to enhance your use of the Technique and your experience as an actor. Classes are each three hours, will be mixed-level and will cater to the specific needs of the clients participating. And the best part is each class costs only $40! You can sign up for as many as you like – so design your own program and come ready to play. Enrollment is limited to Studio members and private coaching clients. Sign up at the Studio (or call the office to sign up by phone) by the Thursday before each lab.
Schedule changes monthly, so check back often!
December 6th – Director’s Lab 12-3p
In the 21st century, everyone in entertainment leads a multifaceted career. We are no longer just actors, waiting and auditioning and hoping to be given the chance to practice our craft. Now, with access to cheap electronics and editing solutions, and the great democratization of all media on the internet, we can be writers and directors too. But these are very different arts than acting, and mastery of the camera can make the difference between a brilliant short that will go viral and get you noticed and one that just doesn't get the "views".
In the Directing Lab, we will cover: Shot Composition and Camera Placement (in a non-dry way that we promise you will find fascinating), Working with Actors, Tips to making your film look professional and much more!
Brendan Hughes is a professional director of film, stage and opera and is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama. He is currently working on a suite of 26 short films each about a different emotion and a feature film about the love story of his parents.
